Listen to a report by Jean-François Bouthillette on research done at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital by Gilbert Bernier, who has discoverd that when a gene called BMI1 stops being expressed normally, the typical problems of Alzheimer’s disease start showing up in the brain. This modification in BMI1 expression could explain the most common form, sporadic Alzheimer’s disease. These researchers used samples from the Douglas-Bell Canada Brain Bank.
